In 2021, we met at Bain & Company, where we executed a performance improvement transformation that created millions in enterprise value by streamlining operations and super charging growth for a client in a niche industry.

Our success was so impactful that the CEO kept us on as a special operations team to fully integrate with the team as we exceled at driving results with both frontline workers and executive teams, thanks to our backgrounds, training and experience.

James Penz

Principal
Professional Background

James brings over a decade of experience in business management and consulting. He was among the initial team members hired to establish Bain & Company's digital automation practice, contributing significantly to its foundational development and early successes. He specializes in strategy consulting, leadership, performance improvement, and digital transformation.

Education

James holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Michigan State University and has completed executive education in Artificial Intelligence from MIT Sloan School of Management. Additionally, he has various certifications in Amazon Web Services and multiple automation and analytics platforms.

Personal

Born and raised in Michigan, James inherited a strong work ethic and enjoyment of life from his family. He comes from a community of small business owners. In his free time, he enjoys playing the guitar, especially Greek music, as well as working out, playing golf, and basketball.

Thu Ra

Principal
Professional Background

Thu Ra has a robust background in supply chain management, logistics, and entrepreneurship. At Bain & Company, he played strategic roles, focusing on operational improvements and integration strategies. Additionally, he founded and grew two startups, showcasing his ability to identify market opportunities and execute growth strategies. Notably, at the age of 23, he led the operations of a light manufacturing business, driving its growth from $80 million to $160 million.

Education

Thu Ra holds an MBA from Yale School of Management, graduating with Highest Honors, and a Master of Science in Operations Research and Supply Chain from Case Western Reserve University.

Personal

Born and raised in Burma (Myanmar), Thu Ra moved to America at 17 to pursue the American dream. He enjoys CrossFit, golf, tennis, and cooking with his wife and friends. He is passionate about visiting zoos and has explored over 40 zoos worldwide.
